The Managing Lawyer in Our Highland Lakes Office

The managing lawyer in our Highland Lakes office is Charles L. “Chuck” Lacallade.

Chuck, a native of Rhode Island, is fully licensed by the Texas Supreme Court, the United States Fifth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas.

Chuck was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island in 1969.

After that, Chuck served as a nuclear weapons officer in United States Army Ordnance Corps, ending his active duty with the rank of Captain.

Chuck then held engineering and marketing positions with General Electric Company.  While working full time for G.E. and covering a three-state territory, Chuck attended the South Texas College of Law in Houston where he was a member of the Law Review.  After graduation, Chuck joined the legal staff of the Lower Colorado River Authority in Austin and entered private practice in 1987.

Chuck and his childhood sweetheart, Betsy, have been married for more than 40 years and have reared two Aggie daughters, Dawn (’96) and Denise (’00).  With a home in Austin and another on the Colorado River arm of Lake LBJ and an “empty nest,” Chuck and Betsy had more homes than they needed and so, in 1994, they sold their Austin home and moved to the lake and in 1995 opened the Highland Lakes office of Brown & Lacallade, P.C.

Chuck is a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Ben Hur Shrine and Scottish Rite Temple in Austin, and a member of the Royal Court of Jesters.  Chuck has been the president of two Shrine organizations and served as counsel for Ben Hur Shrine in Austin for 16 years.  Chuck’s passion is for the Shrine Hospitals for Children, particularly the Houston Orthopedic and Galveston Burn Hospitals.

Chuck and Betsy are active in Republican affairs in the Highland Lakes area where Chuck has served as Chairman of Burnet County Republican Party.  They enjoy golf, boating, and spending time with their daughters and their grandchild.  Daughter Dawn is a Global Online Manager at Dell and daughter Denise is raising their grandchild and working in Austin.  Chuck is also active in the Kingsland Lions Club and has served as a director and President of the Kingsland/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce, Advisory Director and counsel for the Hoover Valley Fire & EMS, and past President of Shangri La Property Owners Association.
